College football is my passion, plain and simple. Still new to it if you ask me, so bear with me on this thing. Any ideas or comments are welcome. My blogs are normally posted on my myspace, so look me up. GEAUX TIGERS!!
#24 TCU over Northern Illinois....And as confident i am about this pick, i just cant stop thinking about Wolfe posting almost three hundred yards of offense against Ohio St in the opener. Im thinking the Huskies just dont have any other weapons to keep them from swarming to Wolfe every play.
Oregon over #20 BYU...And im not too confident about this one. At all. And even with most experts going with BYU, Oregon is fully capable of winning this game. If they keep the ball in Stewarts hands and let him pound the rock, they will limit the turnovers that have killed them all season long. No matter who they chose at QB, Leaf or Dixon, they both need to concentrate on not losing the game with stupid mistakes.
Rice over Troy....Had to get some help with this one, but i think its right on the money. Go owls, get me the win.
South Florida over East Carolina...i think South Florida deserves better, after shutting down West Virginia in Morgantown, but i think they get the win here.
New Mexico over San Jose State...how can you go against the team the bowl is named after, on the teams home field? I prolly bombed this one...
Tulsa over Utah.....yea, Go Armed Forces
Hawaii over ASU...These guys shouldnt be here, with a coach recently fired, who made a horrible decision picking carpenter over keller and the way he handled the whole mess, then going 6-6 in the weak PAC-10. Hawaiis Colt Brennan gets a better effort after his poor performance against Oregon St, and the Warriors come out big here.
Central Michigan over Tennessee St...i saw Central Mich play this year, and i wont pick against them here.
UCLA over Florida St...That pitiful seminole offense wont do anything against the defense that shut down the "mighty" trojan offense.
Alabama over Oklahoma St.....yea, i said it. alabama........
#21 Texas A&M over #19 Cal......I was really confident about this one, then i just kinda lost it. oh well. Gig em aggies, beat the pac-10
#17 Rutgers over Kansas St....on the NFL network, so someone let me know how this one works out. And the ppl in New Jersey, too.
Kentucky over Clemson...you know, i have been saying Clemson the whole time, but whos to say the wildcats cant take it here? Fired up about making a bowl, they finally have a healthy Rafael Little, and with one of the leagues best QBs in Woodson, they will be fired up for this thing. And underachieving Clemson may not be excited at all, wondering what went wrong after an encouraging 7-1 start. Screw it, go wildcats.
#25 Oregon St over Mizzou.....a healthy Missouri would have me going the other way, but with its leading sack artist out for the year, this team took a big hit defensively. Oregon St gets the nod.
South Carolina over Houston. Ole Ball coach ends the streak with a win here. I know Kolb is an NFL talent at QB, but USC has more weapons to give the ball to.
Texas Tech over Minnesota...i just like the matchup here, if the Red Raiders are ahead, the Minnesota running attack wont be as effective, and if the Red Raiders trail, they just continue to air the ball out.
Maryland over Purdue...i just like Marylands coach, big guy can motivate his players.
#23 Boston College over Navy....im not with Lee Courso here, i think the Eagles defense has done some good things against good running games already this season, i dont think there will be too much of a problem here.
#16 Texas over Iowa....If Colt McCoy is healthy here, i dont think you can pick against Texas, with basic homefield advantage and seeing how poorly Drew Tate has played this year. If the walk-on QB is the only one available, then you have a discussion.
Georgia over #14 Virginia Tech....and i never get Va Tech right. i hate them. get em dawgs
Miami over Nevada....against the home team, and im picking "Thug U", i know, but i watched Nevada get demolished by Boise St, so im going with the Hurricanes, giving Coker a good sendoff.
#18 Tennessee over Penn St....i just dont think Penn St has enough offense, plus the QB has his mind elsewhere, with death threats in the mail and his high school head coach bashing him, publicly every chance he gets. Vols get the nod
#10 Auburn over #22 Nebraska.....again, im going with the SEC, plus i just want to pick against Reich, haha. You guys cant beat anyone from SEC country. Irons getting healthy is a big plus, but three suspensions has me reconsidering here a lot lately.
#12 West Virginia over #25 Georgia Tech....two teams with great talent at skill positions, but the difference is West Virginia gets the ball in the hands of its playmakers, while Reggie Ball is streaky at best trying to air it out to the most talented wideout in college football, Calvin Johnson.
#13 Arkansas over #5 Wisconsin...my only question here is the lack of concentration at camp with the freshmen crybabies at Arkansas, but i think the 'backs defense can hold PJ Hill and make Stocco beat them through the air. This wont be like Auburn last year, who came out flat, disappointed with the bowl they played in. Arkansas had McFadden and Jones, and they will be the difference makers.
Well thats it folks. If i have any changes ill post them in the comments, and ill do the BCS bowl a little later. Enjoy the seasons last few college games, its going to be a long offseason!
